Mood-based music player Musicovery launches on Android

A number of digital music startups and apps are trying to help people play music according to their mood. Musicovery is one of them, and it?s just released an Android app.

Musicovery Player is a free download from the Google Play store, and follows an iPhone version released in January 2012. It claims to be ?the easiest way to listen to your own music library and discover new songs?.

The app gets users to indicate their current frame of mind using a ?mood pad?, fine-tuning the selection between axes including Dark, Positive, Energetic and Calm, with songs from their personal ?library arranged accordingly. New songs will also be streamed or downloaded to the device.

As we said, mood-based music players and/or discovery apps are popular in terms of numbers, but their actual popularity among smartphone users is yet to be determined. Perhaps Musicovery can become the first breakout hit in this genre.
